Volunteer

The Museum school is always looking for parent family volunteers, from assisting teachers in the classroom to clerical work that lightens the load of the school.  We Love all of the help we receive and have a list of ways you can assist below.

 

School Wide Volunteer Opportunities

Golf Tournament - We need help NOW!

We will be holding our annual Fore the Kids Golf Tournament on Friday, October 6th at Sycuan golf Resort.

We need help with recruiting golfers to sign up for the tournament. It is a very fun event and can raise up to $10,000 for our school. The more golfers the merrier. Please encourage your golfing friends to sign up right away! There is an early bird special running until Friday, September 8th.

We need volunteers to help sell Opportunity Draw tickets before and after school in the two weeks leading up to the tournament. Just 30 – 40 minutes per day is all we need. If you are available, please sign up at the link below:

HandyPerson Work - Projector and Cabling Installation

We have a few jobs on our list of fix-its that we need help with. If you are able to help out with any of the following, please let Phil know at phil@museumschool.org

  • Installing a projector screen & Mounting a projector in the 8th grade classroom
  • Installing cable raceway from the electrical room to all classrooms
  • Scraping & Painting doors
K - 2 Recess

If you are interested in helping our team to monitor our Kindergarten through 2nd grade students for recess or lunch, we would love to have you. Simply email Miss Jane at office@museumschool.org to let us know which days you may be available. Please put ‘Recess Volunteer’ in the subject heading.

Recess times are:

Monday through Friday from 11:00am to 11:30am (11:45 am on Thursdays)

Lunch recess is M,T,W,F from 12:30 to 1:15pm

 

November Book Fair Coordinator -

Book Fair Coordinator

What is it?  The book fair is after school during the week of November 13 – 17. We will open the fair up after school during the minimum day conferences that week. We need volunteers to staff the fair from 1 pm to 4 pm each day. The Book Fair Coordinator will coordinate with the Usborne representative and organize volunteers for the week of the fair.

Time Commitment/Time Frame:  A few days here and there in Sept. and Oct. and overseeing that the fair is staffed during November.

Duties: We need a parent to be the liaison with the Usborne folks, as well as organize a team of volunteers to set this up, break it down and take cash for the merchandise.

Classroom Volunteer Opportunities

We welcome and encourage volunteers in our classrooms. Please see below for the many opportunities available at each grade level.

If you are volunteering on a one-time basis we will need to check your government issued ID.

If you plan on volunteering on a regular basis we will need you to:

  • fill out a volunteer application
  • show proof of TB clearance
  • and a undergo a Megan’s Law background check.

Kindergarten Volunteer Opportunities
Recess & Lunch Volunteers

We could always use volunteers to help out at recess each day from 11:00 am until 11:30 , and lunches from 12:30 to 1:15 pm

Language Arts

We could use your help in Language Arts groups in Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:30 until 11:00 (Beginning in October)

Sewing – Textiles & Fabric

We could use your help during this fun class on Fridays from 11:45 – 12:30

Copies & Class Materials – Fridays

If you are able to stay around after poetry, we would love your help in putting together materials for the class and/or making copies.

Scholastic Book Orders

We need a parent to help coordinate the online book orders.

1st Grade Volunteer Opportunities
Recess & Lunch Volunteers

We could always use volunteers to help out at recess each day from 11:00 am until 11:30, and lunches from 12:30 to 1:15 pm.

Sewing – Textiles & Fabric

We could use your help during Sewing on Fridays from 10:15-11:00.

Math

First grade would love help during our Math rotations (beginning in October).

Mondays 11:30-12:30

Tuesdays  12:00-12:30 and 1:35-2:20

Wednesday 1:35-2:20

Fridays 9:30-10:15

Language Arts

We could use your help in Language Arts groups in Monday through Thursday from 9:30 until 11:00 (Beginning in October).

Science/Social Studies

First grade could use your help during Science and Social Studies on Wednesdays from 11:30-12:30 and Fridays 1:15-2:15.

Copies and Materials

Ms. Lauren would love with putting together materials. This could take place anytime that is convenient for you.

2nd Grade Volunteer Opportunities

Language Arts – Literacy

It is important that volunteers who are able to help with Language Arts Literacy classes are able to commit to coming on a consistent basis. Classes are typically held Mondays and Tuesdays from 1:30 to 2:30 and Wednesdays from 2:15 – 3:15.

Sewing

Come and help thread needles and cut fabrics during this fun class each Friday from 9:15 to 10:00

4th Grade Volunteer Opportunities

Parents and legal guardians are encouraged to provide time, support, and leadership in any of the following ways:

  • become / remain an active participant in your child’s learning
  • look for ways to connect and extend classroom learning outside of school

Arrange a time to speak with our class about your profession or skill set, or introduce us to guest speakers that correspond with our learning objectives.

Chaperone on a Study Trip

Sign up to be a driver and/or a chaperone during our off-site visits (pre-scheduled Thursdays from 10:00am-12:45pm during department blocks and/or field trips throughout the year)

Classroom Photographer

Be our classroom photographer, I love posting pictures of our hard work in action!

Weekly Cleaning

Assist in weekly cleanings (wipe down and disinfect desks, chairs, equipment,etc)
